There's no question that
LPG is one of the most inexpensive fuels
available, in fact the most compelling argument
for switching to LPG is the economic one.
Furthermore, due to its environmental benefits,
the Government has agreed to maintain the low
fuel duty on LPG for the forseeable future.
LPG retails for
approximately half the price of petrol which
means that a vehicle using LPG fuel is between
40-50% cheaper to run than a conventional
fuelled equivalent.
For most people, the
payback period is between 1 and 2 years although
this is significantly reduced for high mileage
vehicles. To calculate the savings you can make

What's more, because the
engine tends to run more smoothly on LPG, it
reduces engine wear - and, as such, may well
increase the life of your engine and other key
components and result in less maintenance. The
resale value of vehicles is generally enhanced
particularly for vehicles with large engines.
For e xample,
in auctions LPG converted Range Rovers readily
sell whereas standard petrol Range Rovers hardly
have a bid.
As the environment is
getting higher on the political agenda various
incentives for LPG fuelled cars are beginning to
emerge, such as discounted car parking by local
councils and some insurance companies are now
offering discounts.
Environmental benefits
Although vehicles are much
cleaner than in the past, they remain one of the
most significant factors in air pollution.
Vehicles running on LPG produce far fewer of the
harmful emissions associated with traditional
road fuels that contribute to environmental and
health problems.
In 2004 the European
Emissions Testing Programme confirmed the
environmental benefits and credentials of LPG
vehicles. Tests were carried out at four
independent laboratories across Europe testing
petrol, diesel & LPG vehicles. These tests
confirmed that LPG vehicles produce:
17% less carbon dioxide
than petrol and 2% less than diesel
Carbon Dioxide is harmless
to human health but is considered to play a
major role in global warming. Here, Autogas is
17% better than Petrol and 2% better than Diesel
